A development to integrate residential apartments with an existing public house.
This mixed use development was carried out in conjunction with Drum Housing and provided affordable housing units atop a public house, The Wey Bridge.
The project was managed from initial concept designs, through design development and planning to successful site delivery. Difficult access and interface issues needed close negotiation with the housing association and independent public house operator, who changed during the development of the project, whilst the elevational treatment, particularly brick choice and lead work, together with servicing access required sensitive consultation with the Local Authority.
The affordable housing units were designed and delivered to very high standards and their situation, on Alton’s main High Street provides easy pedestrian access to all local amenities.
The Wey Bridge public house has proved to be a very popular venue and provides a modern and spacious ‘sports’ orientated bar with dining areas.
