The Team

Neil has been a Chartered Architect for over 30 years and has great experience in all aspects of design and project management with a particular expertise in the retail, commercial and residential sectors of the construction industry. Working with many of the leading development companies of the UK and producing projects for the country’s major retailers and end-users, Neil has gained a unique insight into the requirements and concepts favoured by these commercial companies, and accumulated an immense amount of knowledge of the development, lettings and property investment arenas.

As a designer Neil has very much a ‘hands-on’ attitude and produces intuitive concept design which reflects the economic commercial realities of development today–with the flair of contempory design thinking. Neil has worked on a variety of prestigious projects, both traditional and contempory, and has award-winning schemes in his portfolio of work. With several competition wins for his regeneration and town centre projects now built, Neil has quietly built a considerable number of successful projects around the UK and Europe.

As a founder of Initia, Neil is enjoying the challenge of developing a new business and branching out into new fields and revisiting old sectors to add a new spin to his design experience.

John’s role at initia is as a Director with primary responsibility for initiating and developing single and multi-disciplinary partnering opportunities, and the successful delivery of high quality developments.

Key Experience
John has gained broad experience in all aspects of construction, including a particular involvement with design and build from conception to completion for clients in both the public and private sectors and during his tenure as a board member for one regional and two national has developed innovative business partnerships and solutions at board level throughout the UK and in Europe.

Professional Experience
Led development partnerships and the design build division for a major national contractor with executive responsibility for consultant and specialist teams, design and build co-ordination, contracts and finance.

Director responsible for the assembly and submission of multi-disciplinary bidding on major framework and partnering opportunities for both public and private sector clients.

Director responsible for innovation and business development in niche markets and new business for an American consultancy practice. Operating throughout the UK, in Europe and America John was instrumental in facilitating joint venture agreements with educational institutions and international companies to design, develop and operate public and private facilities whilst maintaining client relationship responsibility.

Consultant Director facilitating developments and advising developer clients on public sector PFI/PPP developments including design team assembly and engagement, co-ordination of design development, contract negotiation and relationship management.

Director of the Business Development Unit of a major contractor’s special projects division with specific responsibility for formulating and facilitating joint venture and PFI developments. The projects were mainly from the education, health and prison sectors and the role involved the assembly of consultant teams, specialist contractors and developers, co-ordination and negotiation of bids, spv formulation and overall executive responsibility from conception to completion including both internal and external relationship management.

Represented a national contractor on the board of a joint-venture company with a local authority to assist in the development of sports stadia nationwide.

Carried out the additional role of Board Director on the Haringey Heartlands SRB.
